In Waco, TX, and Austin, TX, local Fairway Independent Mortgage branches and the American Warrior Initiative (AWI), partnered to hold two events where they honored a U.S. veteran. Residential housing “Boot Camps” were held in collaboration with these events to train real estate professionals and mortgage planners on how to handle the home purchase needs of active duty and military veterans with excellence.
The honoree at both events was Zeb Miller. Miller was injured overseas and came back and served on the Waco police force until he began having seizures. Miller’s wife and children were then diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease, causing additional burden and medical bills on the family. Fairway and AWI were able to honor Miller and his family with two grants, totaling $26,000.
Branch Manager Marc Wood couldn’t have been happier to be a part of this wonderful event. He commented:
“It was amazing to watch our community come together to honor a veteran and his family, as well as learn how to better serve veterans’ needs as they seek to purchase homes. The energy and enthusiasm was contagious and folks left the event inspired, informed, and eager to serve our local veterans. We are grateful to Louise, Sean, Karen, and the whole AWI team for openly sharing their passion and experience.”
Founded by Louise Thaxton and Sean Parnell, the American Warrior Initiative is a non-profit organization sponsored by Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation, which seeks to ease the transition for U.S. veterans between military and civilian life.
I am proud to work for a company that does so much to honor those who sacrifice for our country. If I can help answer any questions about VA loans or any other home loan options, give me a call.
