A local Fairway Independent Mortgage branch in Central Texas partnered with the American Warrior Initiative (AWI) to honor a U.S. veteran. A residential housing “Boot Camp” was held in collaboration with this event to train real estate professionals and mortgage planners on how to handle the home purchase needs of active duty and military veterans with excellence.
The honoree at the event was Army veteran and Purple Heart recipient Josh Abbatoye. After retiring from 17 years of service, Abbatoye started Spotless Crime Clean where he provides crime scene, biohazard, and hoarding cleanup for victims. At the event, Abbatoye was honored with a boat and fishing tackle, generously donated by the American Warrior Initiative, Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation and River Bottom Baits in Brookeland, Texas. These items will help Abbatoye battle his PTSD.
Co-branch manager Matt Wood was honored to be part of this wonderful event. He said,
“Coming together for this event is so special to our teams. Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation, along with American Warrior Initiative, invited real estate professionals to a Certified Military Residential Specialist Boot Camp, a very special 4-hour continuing education credit class. The CMRS Boot Camp provides a platform where real estate professionals can be trained and equipped to handle with excellence the home purchase needs of active duty and former military clients. Immediately following the CE course, Sean Parnell shared with the audience some of his experiences while serving in the U.S. Army in Afghanistan. Captain Parnell is the NY Times best-selling author of Outlaw Platoon and a combat veteran, who penned the story of his platoon’s crucible of combat in Eastern Afghanistan.”
Shannon Alexander, a senior loan officer with The Wood Group at Fairway loved taking part in this event. She commented,
“We are honored to be able to give back to a man who has devoted his life to serving others. Mr. Abbatoye served our country for over 17 years and then continued his selfless service in helping families who are faced with tragedies, by aiding them in their efforts to heal from their trauma and begin rebuilding their lives. I am humbled to be able to give back to someone who has given so much of himself to others.”
Founded by Louise Thaxton and Sean Parnell, the American Warrior Initiative is a non-profit organization sponsored by Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation, which seeks to ease the transition for U.S. veterans between military and civilian life.
I am proud to work for a company that does so much to honor those who sacrifice for our country. If I can help answer any questions about VA loans or any other home loan options, give me a call.
